Some friends on this planet
Hey folks! My latest single I Have No Friends On This Planet is streaming on all the major services and the video is available for consumption on YouTube. The track was co-produced by Patrick Desiderio and was put together over the COVID lockdown and I wanted to give a little back story on how this track came about.
My music co-partner Pat often makes drum and synth tracks and then leaves them to die in his hard drives. Every once in a while, I’m honored with a trip through his computer brains and upon hearing a random track that was titled only by the date it was created, I asked for the stems and went home to add guitar. Months later I had the full structure and partial lyrics for the track with an idea where the video would go.
I always try to use my thoughts to shape my art and I needed to put my depression somewhere. The lyrics came from a place of loneliness while living in this super divisive world and became a fictional story about the loneliness of an alien left behind by his friend(s) on a distant planet they have been observing for a few years.
After a fateful night of cleaning empty files from my computer I accidentally deleted the ENTIRE track. I screamed into my pillow for a few minutes before I remembered I had all the stems and guitar parts tabbed out. Thank Pizza! I had the song sounding better than I had it originally in no time and soon started filming the music video after the acquisition of some new camera gear.
